… AND THE WALKED INTO A BAR - A ZINE.

Co-authored: John James Perangie, Rhona McGuire, Sebastian Lendenmann, Tobias Allen. 36 Pages, 2025.

LENDENMANN: It really happened—The title here says it all—This zine translates a live performance by Tobias Allen, Rhona McGuire, and John James Perangie into a printed choreography of images, fragments, and gestures. Developed from A3 sheets scrawled with narrative cues, character roles, and intuitive mark-making, the performance was improvised into structure and later documented by Sebastian Lendenmann.
The layout mirrors the arc of the event, moving through moments of juxtaposition, visual clustering, and suspended stillness. Scans of the original planning sheets surface throughout the pages—sometimes as overlays, sometimes as backdrops, sometimes as raw interruptions. The result is not a record, but a reconstruction: a zine that traces the gestures of performance across bodies, drawings, and pages.
The title—…and they walked into a bar—begins without a conclusion. Like the performance, it unfolds through moments, not resolutions—leaving presence in its wake, like a tulip left behind.
